Description

“In our next chapter, we want to build a great company, and the only way we will do that is to hire a great team from the start, build a great culture and give everyone the opportunity to learn and grow”.

~ Scott Hanson,  CEO, The Limestone Boat Company.

The Limestone Boat Company could be thought of as a “start up” with an extraordinary 35 year heritage.

In our next chapter, we are bringing manufacturing home to Canada and “starting up” operations in beautiful New Brunswick, a place steeped in maritime traditions.

For YOUR next chapter as our Head of HR, you’ll report to our CEO and be an integral part of the Limestone Leadership team.  This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the team that builds a world class, high performing, values-driven, publicly traded company.  This is a chance to build your resume but not want to use it.

What you’ll do:

  • You’ll own the People Agenda and build a Plan that enables us to deliver our ambitious Business Plan through our amazing team
  • You’ll be hands on initially, putting in and owning the infrastructure required for payroll, policies and administration – it’s not exciting but it’s necessary…
  • …then you’ll strategize with our CEO and Leadership Team for what is required to scale our team to over 200 and 280 boats annually in the next 3-5 years.
  • You’ll be one of the first hires in this new phase of our growth. Then you’ll drive Talent Acquisition at all levels to build out our team
  • You’ll help lead and leverage our strategic partnerships with the New Brunswick Community College and Opportunities New Brunswick to build capability. For more information on our training program visit careersatlimestoneboats.com
  • You’ll participate in solidifying newly defined company values and behaviours, ensuring they are ingrained in every policy and program we have, every decision we make and everything we do
  • You’ll work internally and with external partners as necessary to build/adapt custom performance and coaching programs that build leadership and drive performance, results and employee growth
  • You’ll assess and recommend appropriate priority HR tech investments
  • As we grow, you will grow and develop a small but mighty HR team when needed
  • You’ll develop manual, then tech-enabled, clear, concise people metrics and reporting

You’ll help build a company that great people know about and want to join and every team member is proud to be from.

You’ll be most successful if you:

  • Have achieved solid, managerial-level general HR experience you’ve gained on a strong HR team and in a people-first culture.
  • Have accomplishments under the “What you’ll do:” section
  • Have built and improved people systems - not just implemented other peoples’ processes
  • Have a record of creative solutions, a network of other business and HR people you can draw on.
  • Can move fast and eliminate inefficiencies.
  • Have high expectations of yourself and others - energy, persistence and a sense of humour is always helpful
  • Have steel toed boots and know the success of the company is out there on the shop floor. You’ve built relationships from senior level to the front line and value them all.

Why Write Your Next Chapter With Us?

  • It’s great HR work. This is a rare opportunity to build like a start up, but in a mature, legacy environment that is committed to the value of people and Human Resources. Your work will have impact and be valued. This which is why the role is being prioritized, is not entry level, and is eligible for stock options.
  • You will have a competitive total rewards package that includes competitive base, results-based bonus, benefits plan and stock options.
  • We’re located in a beautiful part of the country and the goal is that Limestone and our team will become an integral part of the community.
  • You’ll build your resume but not want to use it.

Our process:

Even if you don’t meet every criteria but are close, please apply.  We review every application.  We will be in touch with those who we feel most closely match what we are looking for a first virtual interview.  Your second meeting will be in person with our CEO.

We welcome eligible applications from across Canada.  But our expectation is you will be based so you are in the plant physically, regularly.  This role, by definition, is “hybrid”.  You will have the flexibility to determine how and where to work to be most effective.  The nature of manufacturing is that most roles, and so most of our team, accomplish their work on-site.  You will have full autonomy to do what is best for everyone.  You and our CEO will create the initial policies and approach to work that ensures strong business performance, positive and strong team relationships and personal wellness and you’ll continually evolve it to meet the needs of the business and the team.
